What do we offer?

We have developed a warm, homely environment at Bendi-gedig which we feel makes our nursery such a special and fun place to be. We ensure that every child within our care develops in a safe and stimulating environment. Children between the ages of 3 months - 4 years can be cared for within our nursery. We provide a clwb brecwast as well as pick up and drop off at Ysgol Y Traeth.

 WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE?

We have discovered the importance of providing children with a home from home environment. Not only does this feel more comforting to both parents and children as they transition into nursery life, but it also encourages children to learn through using real life objects and experiences. We feel this approach encourages children to become more independent and enjoy the world around them.

Our Curriculum

We follow a variety of different curriculums as we believe children should be able to grow and learn at their own pace. No child is expected to achieve something because it is 'the norm' for their age. Within our nursery we follow aspects of the Welsh Foundation Phase, the Curiosity Approach and the Montessori approach as these promote child led learning, and provide amazing developmental opportunities based on the child's needs and wishes.

Activities and Learning Objectives

Our aim is to encourage children to express their natural curiosity. We do not tell the children what they should be learning, instead we provide the children with resources based around their interests and let them decide their own end goal. Throughout the day the children have access to crafts, loose parts, water play and many other natural resources which is the foundation to creating open ended learning opportunities.

ACTIVITY EXAMPLE - Child A has expressed an interest in volcanos. They pick out some test tubes and ask for some water and paints to do an experiment. The resources were provided and the child began to play. They poured the paint in to the test tube but it did not erupt like a volcano. Child A then tried to pour some water on top, however it still did not erupt. Child A has an end goal to make the volcano erupt and unknowingly a learning objective (understanding the world, science, mathematics). Child A is then given bi-carb of soda and vinegar and makes an eruption. Throughout this Child A has initiated their own learning. This is documented in their own learning journey.
